Reusing data and charts

Keep the indicator, country, reference year, value type and original source with any extract. World in Stats combines source editions; its downloads do not grant a new blanket licence over those sources. Calculations and visualisations by this website do not imply endorsement by a statistical agency.

  • World Bank terms: generally permit commercial and non-commercial reuse with attribution, subject to indicator metadata and third-party exceptions.
  • UN WUP documentation identifies CC BY 3.0 IGO for its report and associated data. Retain the UN dataset edition and projection variant when citing demographic figures; consult each product’s own documentation.
  • Eurostat reuse notice: permits commercial and non-commercial reuse with attribution, with specified exceptions and third-party restrictions.
  • IRENA terms: check the terms applicable to the specific IRENASTAT extract before commercial reuse. Commercial permission has not been established by this website.
  • FAO and IEA/UNSD supplements: the original provider and the SDG distribution channel are identified in the source records. Commercial reuse conditions for these particular extracts remain unverified; availability through an API is not itself a licence.

Use the source links beside the chart for the exact dataset. If a reuse condition is unclear, obtain clarification from the provider before redistributing or monetising the material.

World in Stats is a research and data exploration tool operated by Martim Abreu. Data can contain omissions, estimates, forecasts, projections and revisions. A projection is not an observed outcome. Source-specific licences and terms apply to downloads and reuse; retain attribution to the named statistical institutions and their original providers. Do not assume that all sources share the same licence or permit the same commercial reuse.
